Let's try this again...

2.14.2010

Well, the recipe blog didn't pan out too well because frankly I'm a tad stingy with my recipes.  Terrible, I know!  But most of them hold special memories (mostly with my mom) and we have a dream of opening a cafe/coffee house/some kind of restaurant SOME DAY...even if she's 100 and I'm 73 we WILL do it one day!  That being said whenever we finally do achieve our dream I don't want everyone knowing all of our tricks :)  So...if you've ever asked me for a recipe and I didn't give it up (or if I did give it to you, I probably left a little something out) now you know why!

But...I just realized that Jared and I have eaten at some pretty awesome places.  He usually doesn't get as emphatic as I do about them, but that's because I'm a food monster and he knows the art of quietly appreciating a meal rather than sitting there saying "OH! MY! GOSH! THIS! IS! DELICIOUS!" after every single bite the way I do.

So...the new purpose of this blog is to share wonderful restaurants and celebrate not only the wonderful meals they serve but also the atmospheres they bring you in to.  I hope you enjoy!  The first few will probably come from Nashville because that's the place we currently frequent most often.

It is my pleasure to present to you:  Provence Breads & Cafe (Nashville, TN)
We ate breakfast this morning at the Hillsboro Village location but there are 2 others in the city.
This place is fantastic!  When you walk in you're immediately greeted with the aroma of freshly baked breads and pastries.  If you look to your right you will find a selection of savory creations in rustic pots with quaint french names that beg you to try to pronounce them.
Straight ahead is the pastry and dessert counter, filled with chocolates, tarts, cakes and other sweet creations that leave your mouth watering.  Sadly, we weren't able to sample anything from this side, but I'm sure we will go back.

Along with their foods, they also offer a variety of teas and coffees...we suggest the Crimson&King unsweetened iced tea.

Based on our meal today, this is what I can reccommend:

Croissant Sandwich
these ingredients sound plain, but trust me...they are anything but
made-from-scratch croissant
ham
cheddar cheese
scrambled egg

Stuffed French Toast
We use "speechless" to describe an event that leaves us with nothing to say.  It's safe to say that this breakfast selection will render you speechless.
2 pieces of traditional French toast
dried fruits
nuts
cream cheese

If you're ever in Nashville, don't pass up a chance to enjoy a meal from this wonderful establishment!

You are amazing! We WILL have our place of business one day, sweet girl! I will be greeting customers and you will either be writing your weekly article for the newspaper, or completing a novel. I could read the things you write all day! You are gifted! I love you!

Love you always,
Mom
